Latavius Murray
Latavius Murray fumbles twice vs Jaguars
Sat, Aug 18, 2018, 1:11 PM
Latavius Murray had six carries for 12 yards and two fumbles in the Vikings' second preseason game.
Analysis: Murray fumbled twice on his first five carries. It was a rough game, but there's not much to read into. Murray had just one fumble on 216 carries last year.
Mackensie Alexander
Mackensie Alexander suffers ankle injury

Tom Pelissero on Twitter
Vikings CB Mackensie Alexander suffered an ankle injury in the second preseason game.
Analysis: Alexander has been the frontrunner for slot duties. The injury could open up more reps for Mike Hughes in pass situations. Terrance Newman should continue to see the majority of nickel snaps on early downs.
Dalvin Cook
Dalvin Cook held out of second preseason game
Sat, Aug 18, 2018, 11:06 AM
Tom Pelissero on Twitter
Dalvin Cook (knee) won't play in the Vikings' second preseason game.
Analysis: Cook was also held out of the preseason opener. The Vikings are avoiding setback risks with Cook 10 months removed from ACL surgery. Cook went through pre-game warmups and has reportedly "looked great" in practice. He should be cleared for the Vikings' dress rehearsal next week.
Dalvin Cook
Dalvin Cook and Latavius to split carries?
Fri, Aug 17, 2018, 3:48 PM
St. Paul Pioneer Press
According to Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Dalvin Cook and Latavius Murray could "split a good bit of the rushing load" this season.
Analysis: Coach Mike Zimmer said it's "too early" to think about how carries will be distributed, though he said both will be "factors." Murray played well down the stretch last season and could work in tandem with Cook, who is coming off a torn ACL. Cook is still the back to own for fantasy purposes, though Murray's presence makes him a tough sell as an RB1.
Antwione Williams
Antwione Williams pled down drunk driving
Thu, Aug 16, 2018, 1:36 PM
St. Paul Pioneer Press
Vikings LB Antwione Williams pled down drunk driving charges to reckless driving.
Analysis: Williams was apparently arrested in May. A 2017 practice squadder, Williams was already up against it to crack the 53-man roster. This won't help.
Trae Waynes
Zimmer on CB Waynes: He's a really good CB
Wed, Aug 15, 2018, 10:22 AM
St. Paul Pioneer Press
Coach Mike Zimmer praised fourth-year CB Trae Waynes, saying Waynes is "a really good corner now."
Analysis: Waynes was the 11th overall pick in 2015 and was someone to pick on with receivers in fantasy and real life his first couple seasons. Waynes became a full-time starter last season and was Pro Football Focus' No. 62 cover corner out of 121 qualifiers while earning a top-five grade at his position for his run defense. If Waynes can take another step, it only strengthens this defense.
Anthony Barr
Vikings LB Anthony Barr wants to stay in MIN
Tue, Aug 14, 2018, 7:00 PM
Pioneer Press
Vikings LB Anthony Barr said he "absolutely" wants to remain with the team longterm.
Analysis: Barr will make $12.3 million in 2018, the final year of his contract. Although the team could opt to franchise tag him before he hits the open market, he would become a free agent If he doesn't sign an extension by March. He sat out in Saturday's preseason opener versus Denver but coach Mike Zimmer said Barr's absence had "nothing to do with his contract situation." LB Eric Kendricks, DE Danielle Hunter, and Stefon Diggs were all given extensions this offseason, leaving Barr as Minnesota's top priority moving forward.
Mike Remmers
Vikings RG Mike Remmers returns to practice
Mon, Aug 13, 2018, 3:13 PM
Chris Tomasson on Twitter
Vikings RG Mike Remmers (ankle) returned to practice Monday.
Analysis: It's the first time Remmers has practiced in the last 13 days. Although his return is an encouraging note for an injury-riddled Vikings line, Remmers was limited to 11 games just last season. Any more extended absences would be worrisome for his status to start the season.
Roc Thomas
Roc Thomas erupts for 136 yards in opener
Sun, Aug 12, 2018, 12:05 PM
Vikings UDFA rookie Roc Thomas totaled 34 yards on 11 carries while adding three catches for 102 yards and two touchdowns in Saturday's preseason opener against the Broncos.
Analysis: He was the third running back to enter the game following starter Latavius Murray (Dalvin Cook was held out as a precaution) and Mike Boone. Most of Thomas' damage came against second-stringers but it was still an impressive showing by the undrafted rookie. The Jacksonville State alum shined in the passing game, nabbing a 13-yard touchdown from Trevor Siemian in the first quarter before adding another score on a 78-yard dump-and-run with 4:59 remaining in the first half. It remains to be seen whether Thomas has a realistic shot at cracking the 53-man roster, but his performance on Saturday certainly helped his case.
Dalvin Cook
Dalvin Cook held out of preseason opener
Sat, Aug 11, 2018, 6:52 PM
James Palmer on Twitter
Dalvin Cook (knee) will be held out of the Vikings' preseason opener.
Analysis: He went through on-field workouts, but the Vikings aren't risking a setback. Cook has been full-go at training camp and remains on track for Week 1. Latavius Murray will start in Cook's place.
Nick Easton
Easton has neck surgery, likely out for year
Thu, Aug 9, 2018, 11:41 AM
Adam Schefter on Twitter
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports Vikings LG Nick Easton underwent surgery to repair a herniated disc in his neck on Thursday.
Analysis: Easton had been searching out second opinions on his neck injury, but it appears as if surgery was the only option. Schefter reports Easton's season is likely over, but this is not believed to be a career-threatening injury. With C Pat Elflein still on the PUP and RG Mike Remmers sidelined by an ankle injury, Minnesota is extremely thin along the offensive line. Tom Compton should get the first crack at replacing Easton.
Kirk Cousins
Cousins wants to be better 'off-schedule' QB
Thu, Aug 9, 2018, 9:02 AM
ESPN
Kirk Cousins said he is working to become "a better quarterback off-schedule when the pocket breaks down."
Analysis: "I have been a very good quarterback, I believe, on keepers, meaning bootlegs outside the pocket," Cousins said. "So I'd like to see that translate more, where when a dropback breaks down and I leave the pocket, I can have the same kind of production that I've had when we've run bootlegs and things like that." It is a shockingly candid answer, but it makes sense it would be on his mind as he transitions to a new scheme. Even if that improvement does not come, Cousins has the weapons around him to be a solid QB1 this season.
Kendall Wright
Kendall Wright could be weekly inactive
Wed, Aug 8, 2018, 6:30 PM
Chris Tomasson on Twitter
Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said Kendall Wright could be a weekly inactive.
Analysis: Wright signed a one-year deal for close to the veteran mimimum this offseason. His roster spot should be safe, but Wright's lack of special teams value could make it hard for him to be active on gamedays. Wright is likely going to need an injury to come into relevance.
Dalvin Cook
Zimmer: Dalvin Cook (knee) is ready 'now'
Fri, Aug 3, 2018, 3:10 PM
Courtney Cronin on Twitter
When asked if Dalvin Cook (knee) would be ready for Week 1, Vikings coach Mike Zimmer said the running back is ready "now."
Analysis: Zimmer added that Cook will get at least "some reps" during the preseason, though his exact workload has yet to be determined. Cook is coming off a torn ACL but has shown no lingering effects throughout training camp. The second-year back is being drafted as a borderline RB1 in most formats.
Anthony Barr
Zimmer: Anthony Barr is not being traded
Fri, Aug 3, 2018, 11:45 AM
Ben Goessling on Twitter
Coach Mike Zimmer said contract-year SLB Anthony Barr is "unequivocally not being traded."
Analysis: Barr sat out practice Thursday, and a Twitter rumor -- which we weren't aware of -- apparently circulated saying Barr was on the trade block. Zimmer emphatically shot it down, saying Barr is sidelined with a "tweak." Barr is next up for an extension in Minnesota, but it's unclear if the team wants to do one.
Mike Remmers
Mike Remmers (ankle) in a walking boot
Thu, Aug 2, 2018, 9:40 AM
ESPN
Vikings RG Mike Remmers (ankle) was spotted wearing a walking boot.
Analysis: Remmers suffered the injury on Tuesday. ESPN's Courtney Cronin reports he is "expected to miss a week or more." Remmers should be good to go well before Week 1, but it is not a great start for a player who was limited to 11 games last season.
Stefon Diggs
Vikings sign Stefon Diggs to 5-year extension
Tue, Jul 31, 2018, 7:16 AM
Adam Schefter on Twitter
Vikings signed Stefon Diggs to a five-year extension through 2023.
Stefon Diggs
Stefon Diggs wants to re-sign with Vikings
Mon, Jul 30, 2018, 10:06 AM
Minneapolis Star-Tribune
Walk-year WR Stefon Diggs said he wants to re-sign with the Vikings.
Analysis: "I want to be here. I love being here," Diggs said. "I love being a part of this organization. They took a chance on me early." Diggs said he does not know where the two sides are in negotiations, and things could get tricky with OLB Anthony Barr also slated for free agency after the season. Still, the two sides should be able to get something done. Diggs caught 64 passes for 849 yards and eight scores in 14 games last season.
Dalvin Cook
Dalvin Cook says he is 'ahead of schedule'
Mon, Jul 30, 2018, 8:53 AM
Minneapolis Star-Tribune
Dalvin Cook (knee) said he is "ahead of schedule" in his rehab.
Analysis: Cook was a full-go for the start of training camp, and he hopes to be active for the preseason opener on August 11. Not wearing a knee brace, Cook is not even worried about taking his first hit. "I'm ready to deliver it," Cook said. "I'm going to go out there and play and be me. I know my knee is fixed. I know I'm healed up. Put the time in, go out there and play." It is still early, but it does not seem like health is a concern for the sophomore running back. On pace for 1,776 yards from scrimmage before going down last year, Cook is solidly in the RB1 group.
Everson Griffen
Everson Griffen (knee) practicing Saturday
Sun, Jul 29, 2018, 11:03 AM
St. Paul Pioneer Press
Everson Griffen (knee) practiced on Saturday.
Analysis: He sat out most of OTAs with a left knee injury but was good to go for the start of camp. Griffen is also coming off a season where he was plagued by plantar fasciitis, though it only cost him one game. Zimmer admitted the three-time Pro Bowler may not be "fully healthy" right now, but with six weeks to go until Week 1, Griffen should be fine for the regular season. The Vikings are expected to rotate their defensive linemen more this year in hopes of keeping Griffen and the other starters fresh.
